How Harry Potter Got The Sorcerer’s Stone Destroyed?

This post is also known as “How Voldemort almost succeeded in stealing the Sorcerer’s Stone thanks to Harry Potter?” What is this item, and what exactly did Harry do, which led to the stone almost being stolen and actually being destroyed?

The Philosopher’s or Sorcerer’s Stone is a magical artifact that appears in the first book of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. It is said to be capable of granting immortality to its user, which was why the Dark Lord Voldemort wanted to steal it.

Albus Dumbledore (headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry) decided to hide the stone in Hogwarts. He had some of the professors set up traps that were meant to protect it and keep it safe from thieves.

Was it possible to save the Sorcerer’s Stone?

However, the Philosopher’s Stone was destroyed. But, don’t you wonder if there was a possibility that it could have somehow been saved? Was it actually possible that the Sorcerer’s Stone would not have been destroyed if certain events hadn’t occurred?

What Harry Potter did to the Sorcerer’s Stone?

If Harry Potter (since he’s the main character, he tried to protect the aforementioned artifact) hadn’t shown up to confront Professor Quirinus Quirrell (the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who was being possessed by Voldemort and who had tried to steal the magical item), doesn’t this mean that Voldemort would never have gotten his hands on the Philosopher’s Stone?

Harry Potter and his best friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, go through a series of traps as they chase after Professor Quirinus Quirrell who was being possessed by the Dark Lord Voldemort

Doesn’t this mean that Dumbledore and the other teachers (like Severus Snape and Minerva McGonagall) might have had the chance to catch Quirrell who was trying to steal the aforementioned item from the Mirror of Erised?

Quirrell = clueless about the Philosopher’s Stone?

This is because Quirrell was having a hard time figuring out how to extract the magical artifact from the mirror.

He was able to get past all the other traps (if you could call it that) which were intended to protect the stone, but, when he got to the Mirror of Erised, he didn’t know what to do. In fact, by the time Harry arrived to confront Quirrell, the latter still had no idea how to get the item in question.

Did Harry help Quirrell get the Sorcerer’s Stone?

It was only when the Gryffindor had shown up that Voldemort had directed Quirrell to make use of Harry Potter in order to get the Philosopher’s Stone. When Harry looked into the mirror, he was easily able to get the magical artifact.

What if Harry Potter never went after Quirinus Quirrell? Would the Dark Lord Voldemort ever be able to figure out how to get the Sorcerer’s Stone from the Mirror of Erised?

So, if Harry never showed up, didn’t this mean that Quirrell would never have gotten this item in the first place? Didn’t this mean that things would have gone entirely differently and that there was no need for Potter to have been there at all?

Your thoughts and opinions

So, what about you? What do you think about all this? Do you think the Sorcerer’s Stone would have been perfectly safe inside the Mirror of Erised even if Harry hadn’t come to attempt to protect it and that his arrival might have actually put it in danger of being acquired by Voldemort?
